I'm rushed off my feet at the moment, but I thought I would come give you a great little tutorial on creating a pretty centre front dart.
Honestly, I think this dart in the right cloth is amazing, and its so simple!
I've made this tutorial into pictures only for now, but let me know if you have problems and I will simplify it again. Hope you have as much fun doing this, as I didn't making it for you.
Ciao for now! x
In this tutorial I am going to show you how to create a centre front dart; see below.
Have a sharp pencil and some paper ready? It better not be crinkled! haha
I'm using a half scale block, I will provide a link for this below (remind me!) but you can use a full scale block if you have one available.
Once you have a perfect shape cut it out, but don't mess up your hard work. Try to keep it neat and tidy.
Now, cut along the top dart nearest the arm hole, the bottom dart line nearest the side seam and create a new dart at the CENTRE FRONT.
Close both of your darts and glue down. you should now have a new dart open at the centre front line.
If needed tidy up your shoulder from the excess paper left from your dart.
Neaten up the bottom of your pattern with a nice curve and then put your information onto the new pattern.
The back will remain the same, unless you decide to do something awesome with it. I will be coming with more tutorials on bodices soon so stay tuned.
